Perpetua to Present a Paper on Integrating Thermoelectric Technology
into Apparel during the Wireless Health 2012 Conference in San Diego,
CA
October 15, 2012
CORVALLIS, OR ––
Perpetua today announced that its Chief Scientist, Dr. Ingo Stark,
will be presenting a peer-reviewed paper and demonstration on incorporating
wearable thermoelectric generator technology into clothing for powering
wireless devices during the Wireless Health 2012 conference. The
conference, which runs from October 23 – 25, 2012, will take
place in San Diego, CA, hosts leaders from all over the world from
the rapidly expanding Wireless Health technology and medical research
communities.
“The escalating trend of new wireless mobile health electronic
devices is associated with an increasing requirement for an always
available energy source,” said Ingo. “Integrated into
apparel, such as a jacket, wearable thermoelectric technology can
reliably provide power to wireless devices that monitor an individual’s
movement or activity for safety, medical or location purposes.”
Wearable thermoelectric generator technology, or TEGwear™
technology as Perpetua has branded it, is a unique energy harvesting
application currently being developed by Dr. Stark and his team
for powering ultra low-power mobile devices using body heat as an
always available mobile power source.
Integrated into wearable structures, such as an armband, clothing
patch, or directly embedded into a low-power wireless monitoring
device, TEGwear™ technology utilizes heat from the body and
converts it into electrical energy. TEGwear™ technology can
be utilized to renewably and reliably power on-body sensors that
can wirelessly monitor an individual’s location or a specific
physiological condition.
