Power Source Technologies Awarded Department of Homeland Security
(DHS) Contract to Develop a Wearable Renewable Energy Solution for
Nation's Emergency First Responders

CORVALLIS, OR—Perpetua
Power Source Technologies, Inc. (Perpetua) today announced that
it has been awarded a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)
contract from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to develop
and demonstrate a thermoelectric generator solution that is capable
of powering wireless sensors by harvesting available energy from
body heat.
The project will make use of
Perpetua’s innovative Flexible Thermoelectric Film™
technology to yield higher voltages and power from small active
areas. End devices will be in wearable form factors that can be
integrated into textiles, harnesses, helmets and other emergency
first responder gear for powering autonomous low-power wireless
transceivers.

Market applications include safety diagnostic systems
for emergency first responders, situational awareness for incident
commanders, along with related medical and military applications.
